AltaML, a top machine learning company in Canada is a professional services AI firm that is looking to productize ideas that come from their practice. They had a backlog of ideas and use cases to build products for in preparation for an investment committee meeting. Although the company had a strong consulting arm, they did not have the skill set and discipline for product validation and new venture creation. AltaML needed a programmatic way to turn their AI service engagements into digital products.
Solution / 02
Having tried to do it themselves with no solution in hand, AltaML worked with LeapMotiv to strategically cherry pick the best potential ideas and go out into the market to validate them. LeapMotiv would build a funnel of customer interviews with target customers, testing various messaging and outreach methods. LeapMotiv used their discovery framework to run the full discovery process, validating/invalidating certain hypotheses and generating structured output. Multiple projects were run in parallel and the learnings then informed the investment committee's stage gate.
Result / 03
LeapMotiv worked on over 10 projects with AltaML, collaborating with more than 100+ cold prospective customers as design partners to better understand the target markets and distill whether the ideated solutions were solving urgent enough problems. Our engagement lasted 18 months until AltaML decided to build their own internal product validation unit called the "Invent" team.
